PDP In Hot Water: FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Revokes Party's Land Titles Over Unpaid Ground Rent

BREAKING: PDP Faces Heat as Wike Revokes Land Titles Over 20-Year Ground Rent Default

Why the PDP's Land Titles Were Pulled: The Inside Story

Listen up, folks. This is a big deal. Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has just spilled the tea on why the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got their land titles revoked. And it’s not pretty.

What Happened? The Ground Rent Drama

Let me break it down for you. It turns out the PDP, along with thousands of other organizations, didn’t pay their ground rent for over two decades. Yeah, you heard me right—20 years! And guess what? That’s not the kind of thing you can just sweep under the rug. So, Minister Wike took action, and it’s a bold move that’s got everyone talking.

Now, here’s the kicker: Wike didn’t just target the PDP. He went big. Really big. A total of 4,794 land titles were revoked because of this issue. We're talking about huge names like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), even the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Yes, the PDP is in the mix, but they’re far from alone in this mess.

When you think about it, the list is staggering. Alongside the PDP, other big players like CONOIL Plc, the Borno State Government, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and the National University Commission (NUC) are all feeling the heat. Even more surprising? Organizations like M.R.S Investment Company Limited, the Kaduna State Government, and the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) are part of this massive group of defaulters.

But wait, there’s more. Other notable names on the list include the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Federal Ministry of Environment, the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, the University of Calabar, the Nigerian Postal Service, and even the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). If you ask me, this is a wake-up call for everyone to get their financial house in order.

In a Facebook post, Olayinka laid it all out. He wrote, “For 20 years, PDP did not pay Ground Rent. They want Wike to remove PDP from among the 4,794 defaulters.” He added, “A total of 4,794 land titles were revoked over failure to pay ground rent for 10 to 43 years. If PDP and any other organizations are among, so be it. Wike no dey look face.

That’s right, folks. This isn’t about picking favorites. It’s about accountability. And when you’ve got organizations that haven’t paid their fair share for decades, something has to give. Minister Wike is making sure that happens, no matter who’s involved.
