Police Neutralize Kidnap Gang In Kogi-Edo Border Ambush, Arrest 13 Suspects, Recover Weapons

Unyielding Resolve: Nigeria Police Force in Action

Let me tell you something: the Nigeria Police Force is stepping up in a big way. With a series of bold and strategic operations, they’ve shown they mean business when it comes to cracking down on crime and protecting the people. In a recent statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police have made some major arrests that highlight just how serious they are about keeping us safe.

March 11: A Clash on the Border

Now, here’s where things got intense. On March 11, 2025, at around 6:30 PM, a group of armed kidnappers decided to make a move in Oshara Ganden, a border area between Kogi and Edo States. They didn’t know they were about to face off against the Intelligence Response Team (IRT). These officers didn’t just hold their ground—they hit back hard. Not only did they fend off the ambush, but they also managed to arrest eight suspects. Meet the crew: Tukur Salisu, Sani Abubakar, Mamud Sani, Umar Abdullahi, Salisu Mohammed, Salisu Usman, Bashir Audu, and Jibril Haruna. These guys are now behind bars where they belong.

But wait, there’s more. The police didn’t stop at arrests. They also seized a stash of weapons, including one AK-47 rifle with 29 live rounds, a slick Israeli-made pump-action rifle with four cartridges, two more pump-action rifles with 72 cartridges, a single-barrel shotgun with two cartridges, and even two motorcycles. This kind of haul shows just how prepared these criminals were—and how prepared the police were to stop them.

Fast forward to January 27, 2025, and the IRT was at it again. Acting on some solid intel, they nabbed two suspects, Yakubu Musa, 30, and Usman Musa, 25, both from Kaduna State. These guys weren’t your average criminals—they were linked to multiple kidnappings and cattle rustling in the Soba and Ikara regions. Along with the arrests, the police recovered three AK-47 rifles and 19 rounds of live ammunition. This case is just another example of the police’s ability to connect the dots and take down dangerous criminals.

January 21: A Triple Arrest in Kaduna and Niger States

And then there’s the operation on January 21, 2025, where three individuals—Abubakar Lawan, 24, Isiaku Abdullahi, 35, and Abbas Maisaude, 26—were caught red-handed. These guys were charged with criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, and kidnapping. During interrogations, they admitted to being involved in kidnappings across Rijana, Lambata, Dandume, and Ugama in Kaduna and Niger States. The police didn’t let them walk away with their weapons either—they recovered an AK-49 rifle, two AK-47 rifles, and 28 rounds of live ammunition. The search for their accomplices is still ongoing, showing just how committed the police are to wrapping up these cases completely.

A Message to the Nation: We’re All in This Together

These operations are a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s relentless pursuit of justice and their dedication to protecting lives and property. But here’s the thing—this fight against crime isn’t just about the police. It’s about all of us. Citizens are being urged to team up with law enforcement by sharing timely and accurate information. Your help is crucial, and together, we can make a real difference.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has praised the operatives for their bravery and dedication. He stressed the importance of staying vigilant and proactive to maintain law and order. The message is clear: criminals won’t find a safe haven in Nigeria. Justice will always have the final say.
