Kogi Gov Reacts to Natasha Akpoti's Rally: Was It a Risk to Public Safety?

Kogi Government Claims Natasha Akpoti's Rally Put Lives at Risk

Well, here’s something that’s been making waves in Kogi State. The state government has come forward to say that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, through her recent rally in the state, potentially endangered the lives of the local community. Now, this isn’t just a casual claim—it’s a pretty serious accusation. Let’s break it down.

Naija News has reported that Senator Natasha Akpoti, who’s been in the spotlight for accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, went ahead and held a rally in her hometown on Tuesday, despite warnings from both the police and the Kogi State government. This wasn’t just a small gathering—this was a defiant move that sparked quite the controversy.

What Went Down at the Rally?

At this rally, Senator Natasha didn’t hold back. She openly accused Senate President Akpabio of plotting her recall, allegedly in collaboration with Governor Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello. But that’s not all—she also claimed that Akpabio had gone as far as telling Bello to eliminate her. These are some heavy accusations, and they’ve definitely stirred up the political waters in Kogi State.

    Kogi State Commissioner Weighs In

On Thursday, Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, shared his thoughts with News Central. According to Fanwo, Natasha’s actions endangered the lives of the people in her community. This is a serious claim, and it raises questions about the responsibility of public figures during volatile times.

When asked if the large turnout at the rally wasn’t proof of Natasha’s strong representation and the support she enjoys from her constituents, Fanwo was quick to clarify. He stated that he wouldn’t speculate on Natasha’s achievements or her popularity. Instead, he emphasized that it’s up to Natasha herself to tell the world what she’s done. The Kogi government, on the other hand, has its own perception of her actions and intentions.

Here’s what Fanwo had to say: “I will only report what I know, that is for sure, I will not dwell on the things that I don’t know about. It is left for her (Natasha) to tell the world what she has done. It is left for us to tell the world about our perception of her (Natasha). I’m not her image maker and not her information officer.”

Who Are the True Leaders in Kogi State?

Fanwo went on to explain that to truly gauge the support and acceptance of political figures, one should look at the response when former Governor Yahaya Bello or the current Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, visit areas like Okene. He argued that this would provide a clearer picture of who is more accepted and which party resonates more with the people.

In his words: “When you talk about people coming to receive her and political office holders, you will see when the former governor, Yahaya Bello or the current governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, visit Okene, then you will know who is more acceptable and which party is more acceptable. I know the people of Kogi State know their true leaders and they know those who come to endanger them.”
