Peter Obi, Zlatan Beef, And Portable's Prison Experience: A Candid Look

Portable Calls Zlatan an Up-and-Coming Artist: The Inside Story
Let me tell you something interesting. Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, a controversial Nigerian singer, recently had some strong words about his fellow artist, Zlatan Ibile. Now, Portable didn’t mince words when he referred to Zlatan as an up-and-coming artist, implying that the "Zanku" crooner hasn’t quite reached the level of stardom that some might think. According to Portable, Zlatan’s music doesn’t resonate with the elite crowd because of its unique style.
In a recent interview on Echo Room, Portable opened up about a heated situation involving Zlatan. He revealed that a car dealer, someone he often does business with, criticized him for engaging in a feud with Zlatan. The dealer argued that Zlatan wasn’t worth the drama and accused Portable of using the beef to chase clout. Portable recounted the dealer's exact words, saying, “Zlatan is an up-and-coming artist. There was a man I got a car from. I decided to change my car for my birthday, from one of the people I get cars from. He said I shouldn’t have answered Zlatan. He said Zlatan wanted to chase clout with my name. Then he said he didn’t even know his songs that he just started hearing his name.”
Portable wasn’t shy about sharing his thoughts on Zlatan’s music. He questioned whether Zlatan’s tracks are even considered real music, especially since they don’t lend themselves to call-and-response. He added, “A lot of wealthy people don’t know some of these artists’ lyrics. What are they singing? Are those songs? You cannot do call and response. Is that music? Are you joking?”

Portable's Recent Detention: Clearing the Air
Portable has been through a lot lately, and one of the most talked-about incidents was his recent detention. In a candid conversation, he revealed that he used this time in police custody to set the record straight, particularly about claims that he might be mentally unstable. You see, Portable was detained and eventually arraigned in court over allegations of conspiracy and assaulting three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
But here’s the thing: Portable isn’t the type to let misconceptions linger. He shared an intriguing detail about his time in the cell. When he arrived, the leader of the cell actually stepped down, offering Portable the chance to take over. But Portable, ever the humble one, declined, saying, “This is not my house.” Instead, he chose to get to know his cellmates better. He inquired about the offenses they were accused of and even built a rapport with them. For instance, when he learned that one of his cellmates was accused of murder, he simply said, “Stay beside me as long as you don’t kill me.”
Portable also opened up about the harsh realities of life in the cell. Typically, new detainees face beatings, but Portable managed to escape that fate. How? By "blessing" the prisoners in cell 4. His generosity earned him some respect, and he was spared the harsh treatment. However, not everyone left him alone. Some of his cellmates tried to engage him in prayer, but Portable wasn’t having it. He firmly believed that their collective prayers wouldn’t be effective, given their past actions. He explained, “A person said we should pray; I said No, God doesn’t answer this kind of prayer. We aren’t in church. One said he had killed one person, another said he killed two people, and another said three people. I haven’t killed anyone, so our prayers cannot work together. Pray on your own.”
Portable’s journey through this challenging experience has given him a unique perspective. He’s using it as an opportunity to redefine how people see him, proving that there’s more to him than meets the eye. Whether it’s calling out Zlatan or sharing his prison experiences, Portable continues to keep everyone on their toes with his bold and unapologetic approach to life.
