On Thursday, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, handed over the former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa. This significant moment came after Brig.-Gen. Tsiga was successfully rescued from the clutches of his captors. Alongside him, Ambassador Idi Hong and 17 other rescued individuals were also handed over to ensure their safe return to their families.
A Brief but Meaningful Ceremony in Abuja
This handover took place during a solemn yet heartwarming ceremony held at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), located within the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja. Recalling the Abduction of Brig.-Gen. Tsiga
For those who may not remember, Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga was abducted on February 5, 2025, in his hometown of Tsiga, situated in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. After enduring a harrowing 56 days in captivity, he was finally freed, reuniting with loved ones and serving as a beacon of hope for many families still awaiting the return of their abducted relatives.

In his address during the ceremony, NSA Ribadu extended heartfelt gratitude to the security forces for their unwavering dedication and bravery in rescuing the victims. “Because of the hard work and sacrifice of our armed forces and other security agencies, we’re able to bring our people back home. We thank God for their safe return and extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved in making this possible,” Ribadu said with evident emotion.
He further stressed that the fight against criminal elements will continue relentlessly. “This is just the beginning. We’re working quietly but effectively to track down those responsible and bring them to justice. We will not stop until every single Nigerian is safe from such threats,” Ribadu declared with determination.
