Kogi Government Hits Back: Senator Natasha Faces Legal Consequences For Baseless Allegations

Kogi Government Warns Senator Natasha: Time to Face the Music in Court
The Kogi State Government has fired back at Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, warning her that her recent allegations against Governor Usman Ododo could land her in court for a very long time. This isn’t just a slap on the wrist; it’s a full-blown legal battle that’s about to unfold. If you’ve been following the drama in Kogi politics, you know this isn’t the first time Natasha has made bold claims, but this time, the government is ready to take action.
The Allegations: What Did Natasha Really Say?
According to Naija News, Natasha made some pretty explosive statements during a gathering with her constituents at her country home on Tuesday. She claimed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio had a direct conversation with Governor Ododo, allegedly plotting her recall. But wait, there’s more. Natasha also accused Akpabio of contacting former Governor Yahaya Bello, allegedly urging him to take extreme measures against her. Now, that’s a heavy accusation, and the Kogi State Government isn’t taking it lightly.
Kogi State Commissioner Weighs In
Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, didn’t hold back when he spoke to News Central on Wednesday. He flat-out dismissed Natasha’s claims, calling them baseless and dishonest. Fanwo pointed out a crucial detail: Governor Ododo was in Saudi Arabia at the time Natasha claimed these conversations took place. And if you’ve ever tried using WhatsApp in Saudi Arabia, you know the communication barriers can be significant. So, how could such a conversation even happen?

A Lawmaker Breaking the Law?
Fanwo didn’t stop there. He went on to describe Natasha as a lawmaker who seems to have no regard for the very laws she’s supposed to uphold. He emphasized that her reckless accusations could lead to multiple court appearances, not just a single day in court. This isn’t just about defamation; it’s about the misuse of power and the spreading of falsehoods that could harm the reputations of influential Nigerians, including the Senate President, the former governor, and the current governor.
Fanwo’s Direct Response: Setting the Record Straight
Here’s what Fanwo had to say, in his own words: “I would say to you, there was no communication whatsoever. There was no communication whatsoever between the Governor and the Senate President on whether Natasha should be recalled. Let me even shock you further. The Governor, as at the time she was talking about, at some point in March, the Governor was away in Saudi Arabia, you know, on pilgrimage. While in Saudi Arabia, you are aware of the communication in Saudi Arabia, especially as it has to relate to the use of WhatsApp.”
“So, all of the things she was saying were blatant lies to wipe off sentiments, to destroy and assassinate the character of reputable Nigerians, including the Senate President, the former governor, and the current governor. You know, that is a stock in trade. And, you know, this is where the intelligence now comes handy. Assuming the supporters of the Governor, or the former governor, had reacted to what she said, then, that would have led to violence and bloodshed in the state. If not for the maturity and the peaceful disposition of those people, that is, what we are talking about now, would have been a very different ballgame.”
“So, I can assure you that the suspended senator, who has no regard for rules, who has no regards for law, a lawmaker who is breaking the law, would definitely have dates, not just one day, dates in court, for those blatant lies, for those malicious defamation of hers.”
It’s clear that the Kogi State Government is taking a firm stance against Natasha’s allegations. This isn’t just about protecting the reputations of key political figures; it’s about ensuring that the rule of law is upheld, even in the face of political drama. As the legal process unfolds, one thing is certain: Natasha’s actions will have consequences, and the people of Kogi State will be watching closely.
