Devastating Accident Claims Life of NSCDC Officer, Injures Nine Others

Listen up, friends. A deeply saddening event unfolded in Abia State, where a road accident involving security personnel from Sector 4, Operation Crush, Bende Axis, left one member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) dead and nine others injured. The Abia State Police Command has confirmed this tragic news, and it’s hitting hard for everyone involved.

This incident happened on March 30, 2025, at around 6:10 PM on Bende Road. The patrol vehicle these brave men and women were traveling in overturned while they were returning to their base. You can imagine the chaos and panic that must have ensued in those moments.

Thankfully, emergency services sprang into action quickly. The injured individuals were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia. Unfortunately, one NSCDC officer succumbed to their injuries, while the others are currently receiving medical attention. This is a stark reminder of the dangers these officers face every single day.

    Among the injured officers are CPL Achibere Paul, CPL Nkama Emmanuel, and PC Okibe. These officers, along with their fellow colleagues, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they fight to recover from this harrowing experience.

    It’s worth noting that the firearms belonging to these officers are now securely in the possession of Operation Crush Commander Lt. Ogar. Efforts are currently underway to retrieve the overturned vehicle, which must be a painstaking process given the circumstances.

    Another Fatal Incident on the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway

    But wait, the heartbreak doesn’t stop there. In a separate and equally devastating incident, two personnel from the Special Protection Unit (SPU) were involved in a fatal accident on the Ntigha stretch of the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway. They were traveling in a Sienna vehicle en route from Aba to Abakaliki when tragedy struck.

    The deceased have been identified as Akoh E. Benjamin and Uzoojike Victor. Both were confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia. A civilian passenger who was also in the vehicle remains in a coma, fighting for their life. It’s a grim situation, and the community is undoubtedly reeling from the loss.

    Investigations Ongoing as the Community Mourns

    According to Naija News, the bodies of the deceased have been placed in the FMC mortuary as investigations into both accidents continue. These are dark days for the families and colleagues of the fallen officers, and the entire community is coming together to support one another during this difficult time.
