NAF Delivers Powerful Strikes Against Terrorist Strongholds in Borno and Katsina

In a bold move, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has executed a series of precise and impactful airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Borno and Katsina States. The operation has been nothing short of a success, resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorists and a significant blow to their operational networks. This isn’t just a tactical win; it’s a major step toward restoring peace in these regions.

NAF Public Relations Officer Speaks Out

This vital information was shared by Group Capt. Kabiru Ali, the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja. Capt. Ali gave an inside look into the recent operations, detailing the precision-guided airstrikes conducted between March 17 and March 19. These operations targeted some of the most fortified terrorist hideouts in Chiralia, Grazah, Yuwe, and Zango Hill, places that have long been a thorn in the side of local communities.

Chiralia Under Fire: A Significant Strike on March 17

Let’s rewind to March 17 when the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai launched a major airstrike on Chiralia, a notorious stronghold nestled within the Timbuktu Triangle. This area has been a hub for insurgents orchestrating violent raids along the Maiduguri-Damaturu and Damaturu-Biu highways. Civilians have been abducted, supplies looted, and chaos spread far and wide. In response, NAF attack aircraft unleashed a massive assault, wiping out multiple enemy structures and eliminating terrorists attempting to flee. The follow-up strikes ensured that no one escaped the devastating impact of this operation.

The very next day, the NAF intensified its efforts with another air interdiction operation. This time, the targets were Grazah, a heavily fortified hideout in the Mandara Mountains, and Yuwe, an insurgent stronghold deep within the Sambisa Forest. Intelligence reports revealed that extremist leaders were actively indoctrinating new fighters at Grazah, making it a critical location for the NAF to strike. Precision-guided fighter jets unleashed a relentless barrage of strikes, decimating key targets and delivering a decisive blow. Follow-up strikes ensured that fleeing terrorists were intercepted and destroyed, crippling their operational networks entirely.

Zango Hill: Coordinated Assault in Katsina

Meanwhile, in the North-West region, the NAF coordinated a powerful aerial assault on Zango Hill in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina. This operation was carried out in close collaboration with ground forces. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions identified armed bandits entrenched in the rugged high ground of Zango Hill. NAF attack aircraft responded swiftly, carrying out precision strikes that targeted enemy positions. Follow-up bombardments were aimed at regrouping fighters who attempted to evade destruction. This was a calculated and coordinated effort to dismantle the bandits’ stronghold.

Close Air Support: Helicopters to the Rescue

NAF helicopters played a crucial role in this operation by providing Close Air Support (CAS). They engaged bandits who were attempting to attack friendly forces, ensuring the smooth advancement of ground troops. The result? Multiple armed criminals were annihilated, and their fortified hideouts were completely destroyed. This operation has significantly weakened the bandits’ operational foothold in the region, making it harder for them to regroup or launch future attacks.

A Major Blow to Terrorist Networks

The recent airstrikes by the NAF have dealt a significant blow to terrorist and bandit networks across multiple regions. According to Capt. Ali, intelligence assessments reveal that these strikes not only neutralized several high-value targets but also destroyed critical infrastructure used by the terrorists for logistics and coordination. It’s a clear demonstration of the NAF’s commitment to eradicating these threats and restoring peace.

    NAF’s Ongoing Commitment to Peace

“NAF remains committed to sustaining the momentum of air operations in close coordination with ground forces to ensure restoration of peace and security in affected areas,” Capt. Ali affirmed. This isn’t just talk; it’s a promise backed by action. The NAF is determined to continue its relentless pursuit of peace, and these recent operations are proof of their dedication. The fight isn’t over, but the message is clear: the NAF is here to stay, and they mean business.
