Wike's Aide Clears The Air Amid Fubara's Meeting Invite To Amaewhule-Led Rivers State Assembly

Lere Olayinka Speaks Out: Wike's Allegiance to Nigeria, Not APC
Alright, let me break it down for you. Lere Olayinka, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stepped up to clarify some things. He made it crystal clear that Wike, along with other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are part of President Bola Tinubu's administration, are working for the Nigerian government—not the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Now, here's the scoop: This clarification came after some confusion arose following the decision of the FCT Administration to revoke land belonging to the PDP and other top politicians. The reason? They failed to pay ground rent for the last two decades. Crazy, right? And guess what? Even though Wike is a PDP member, the PDP’s National Secretariat was among the 4,794 properties hit by this revocation. Talk about no favoritism!
Wike's Stance: No Favoritism, Just Duty
Olayinka appeared on Arise Television Morning Show on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, and laid it all out there. He emphasized that Wike doesn't play favorites when it comes to doing his job. Let’s hear what he had to say:

“No leader of the party is working for the opposition. I get that you're hinting at the fact that Wike is a Minister in an APC-led government. But let me set the record straight—just because someone is in a government led by the APC doesn't mean they're working for the APC. A Minister in the government isn't working for the ruling party; they're working for the government of Nigeria, for the people of Nigeria. PDP leaders in this government are working for the government of Nigeria, not for the APC,” Olayinka explained.
Understanding Wike's Role in the PDP
Olayinka went on to clarify that while Wike is a member of the PDP, he's never been involved in the administration of the party. He pointed out that outsiders, like those not part of the National Working Committee (NWC), can only support the party in ways like financially or morally. The real decision-makers are the ones directly involved in running the party. They're the ones who know what payments need to be made and what can be skipped.
“Back in 2003-2004, the PDP decided not to pay ground rent on Wadata Plaza. Bode George, who was the Deputy National Chairman of PDP and part of the NWC back then, should have known this. And here’s the kicker—Wadata Plaza doesn’t even belong to the PDP. So when Debo Ologunagba, who I’ll just say is the most incompetent National Publicity Secretary the PDP has ever had, claims this is an attack on democracy and the opposition, let me remind you that as a member of the NWC, he should know that legally, that place doesn’t belong to the PDP,” Olayinka added.
Wike's Commitment to Duty Without Bias
To sum it up, Olayinka made it abundantly clear that Wike does his job without looking at faces or playing favorites. He's committed to serving the Nigerian government and its people, regardless of party affiliations. It's all about doing what's right for the country, and that's something we can all get behind.
