Rivers PDP Official Challenges Claims Behind State of Emergency

Naija News brings you the latest on the controversy surrounding the state of emergency declared in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu. The Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has come forward to dispute reports of oil pipeline bombings in the region. He strongly believes that President Tinubu was misled into making this declaration based on false information.

What Really Happened in Gokana and Trans-Kalabari?

In an exclusive interview with Arise News, Ewor set the record straight on the alleged incidents at Gokana and Trans-Kalabari. According to him, what was reported as pipeline bombings were, in fact, minor oil leakages that were promptly addressed by the responsible company. He emphasized that there was no act of vandalism by militants, contrary to what some reports might suggest.

Ewor went on to challenge the security agencies to provide tangible evidence of any such vandalism. He pointed out that despite the widespread claims, no explosions have occurred in Rivers State. His words were clear and direct: “As I speak to you, there has been no bombing in Rivers State. They claim that the bombing took place in Gokana and Trans-Kalabari Pipeline. There was no bombing. It was a small leakage in that pipeline, which was later repaired by the company. There was absolutely no bombing at all. And even as I speak to you, no bombing has taken place in the state of Rivers. Across all 23 local governments, there was no bombing anywhere.”

Ewor further urged the security agencies to visit the site in question and confirm the situation on the ground. He questioned the validity of the information used to justify the declaration of a state of emergency. His statement was firm: “They used that incident to deceive the President into declaring a state of emergency. Go to that place, send your officers, send your delegation, there was no bombing at all. And up until now, no bombing in any part of Rivers State.”

He added, “We have the police in Rivers State. We have the army, the Navy, and even the Joint Task Force (JTF) present here. Let them go to the location and confirm to Nigerians whether any bombing took place there.”

A Voice of Authority from Rivers State

As someone who lives and works in Rivers State, Ewor feels confident in asserting that no such bombings have occurred. He expressed his frustration with the misinformation spreading around the state. “We live in Rivers State. We know what happens here. And I’m telling you with authority that no bombing has taken place in Rivers State. Even as I’m speaking to you, no bombing has happened in this state.”

With these statements, Ewor aims to clarify the situation and bring transparency to the public discourse surrounding the state of emergency in Rivers. His call for accountability and verification highlights the importance of accurate information in times of crisis.
