Tinubu's Moves Under Scrutiny: A Warning To PDP Governors And NASS Members

Scope
Tinubu Will Come After You - Sara-Igbe To PDP Govs, NASS Members

Ex-PANDEF Leader Anas Sara Igbe Sounds the Alarm

Naija News has learned that Anas Sara Igbe, the former Publicity Secretary of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), is raising some serious concerns about President Bola Tinubu's recent actions. According to Sara-Igbe, the President appears to be taking steps that could intimidate his political opponents and undermine the rule of law. This is a story that’s getting a lot of attention, and it’s important for everyone to understand what’s at stake.

In a candid conversation with Daily Independent, Sara-Igbe questioned the legality of President Tinubu's decision to suspend Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the House of Assembly. He pointed out that such actions are not in line with constitutional provisions. Now, here’s the kicker—why would the President declare a state of emergency in a place like Rivers State, where there’s no active conflict, while ignoring the more pressing security challenges in the North? This inconsistency has many people scratching their heads.

“Mr. President relied on section 305. But if you take a closer look at section 305, it should logically apply to regions where there are wars, such as the ongoing battles against terrorists, bandits, and criminal gangs in the North. In Rivers State, there’s no war, no fight—everything is peaceful. Yet, we see the declaration of a state of emergency, the suspension of an elected governor, and the sidelining of the House of Assembly. These actions are not just improper—they’re illegal. The constitution did not grant the President this kind of power. I’ve reviewed the conditions under which a governor can be removed, and this situation doesn’t meet any of those criteria,” Sara-Igbe emphasized.

Sara-Igbe went on to suggest that the President’s actions were not just about governance but were instead tailored to benefit a particular individual—Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State. He described Wike as the President’s “hatchet man,” implying that these moves were politically motivated. Now, this raises some interesting questions: Is this about loyalty, or is it about control? And more importantly, what does this mean for other governors?

“Let me break it down for you. First, it’s clear that Mr. President is desperate to crush his opponents. And who’s pulling the strings? Wike. He’s the President’s go-to guy. Now, other governors are watching closely. Today, it’s Simi Fubara’s turn. Tomorrow, it could be someone else. The President might use the same tactics in other states, especially those governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). If any governor steps out of line or refuses to play ball, they could find themselves out of a job,” Sara-Igbe warned.

A Message to PDP Governors: Stay Alert

Sara-Igbe urged PDP governors to remain vigilant, warning them that they could be next on the President’s list. He argued that the President’s approach sets a dangerous precedent, one that could lead to further erosion of democratic principles. This isn’t just about Rivers State—it’s about the future of governance in Nigeria. So, what’s the takeaway here? Governors need to be prepared for anything.

“PDP governors, listen up. The President’s actions in Rivers State should serve as a wake-up call. This is not just about one state; it’s about the entire political landscape. If you’re not aligned with the President’s agenda, you could be next. This is a game of power, and the stakes are high,” Sara-Igbe cautioned.

Does the National Assembly Have a Role to Play?

Sara-Igbe also took aim at the National Assembly, questioning their role in approving what he described as an “illegal and unconstitutional act.” He argued that the Assembly’s duty is to uphold the law, not to rubber-stamp decisions that violate the constitution. If they fail to do so, it raises doubts about their integrity and commitment to democracy.

“The National Assembly members are supposed to confirm the declaration of a state of emergency, not the removal of a governor. But in this case, the President has acted contrary to the constitution, and he’s asking the Assembly to approve his unconstitutional actions. If the National Assembly thinks they can trust this President, they’re mistaken. Believe me, he’ll come after them too,” Sara-Igbe concluded.
